The BlackBerry Z10 is probably the most important product launch BlackBerry has ever had. The company’s future depends on how well the Z10, and the BlackBerry 10 OS underpinning it, are accepted in the fierce smartphone market of today. So when my Z10 arrived on February 5th, I immediately set out to answer one question — is this the BlackBerry people will want? Let’s find out.
Today was Media Day at the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show, and I was in attendance in order to do some coverage for The Blog of Cars. However, since I had my Z10 on hand, I decided to try out something new by sticking all my photos into the Story Maker app. You can see the end result above — it’s a nifty little app!
P.S. I’m hoping to write up my full Z10 review sometime this weekend.
If you were one of the later adopters of the BlackBerry PlayBook, you probably had Zinio preloaded on your device. It’s a nifty app where you can read a huge variety of magazines. Well, my other site is having a Zinio giveaway — you can win one of ten Zinio magazine subscriptions! Interested? Click here for more details.
P.S. In case you’re wondering, I got my BlackBerry Z10 on Tuesday, and I am working on getting a review done in the next week or so. Stay tuned.
BlackBerry knows they need some creative marketing to get themselves back in the smartphone race with BlackBerry 10. So, they made arguably one of the best marketing investments available by buying Super Bowl airtime. You can see the resulting ad above. It puts a creative twist on things by showing you what the Z10 can’t do.
The launch event for BlackBerry 10 has finished, the reviews have made their way out, and the dust is beginning to settle. BB10 is here for everyone to see, with sales of the Z10 beginning tomorrow in the UK, February 5th in Canada, and closer to the end of February/beginning of March in the US. Here’s what I think.
This is it, the day BlackBerry fans all around the world have been waiting for. In just over an hour, Thorsten Heins will walk onto the stage in New York City and officially present BlackBerry 10 — a new era for RIM. If you have the time to spare, you can tune into the live webcast here. I know I’ll be watching!
With just two days to launch, these leaks really can’t contain themselves! The latest one is perhaps a bit more important than a white Z10 however — the street date for Vodafone UK. An internal document, shown above, claims that BlackBerry 10 will be available for order after 5 PM on launch day, and hit stores on the 31st. We may be able to get our hands on BlackBerry 10 sooner than we think!
We’re just two days from BlackBerry 10’s launch — a day that will mark the beginning of a new, and hopefully prosperous, era at RIM. But despite the launch being so close, someone couldn’t wait to show us the white version of the BlackBerry Z10.
With just 5 days to go until the launch of BlackBerry 10, I think it’s already become pretty clear that this is definitely a product to look forward to this year. But a good product needs good marketing to get the word out, especially with the tarnished reputation RIM has suffered over the last few years. So, I’m glad to report that RIM has confirmed they will air their first-ever Super Bowl commercial during Super Bowl XLVII on February 3rd.
