With just two days to launch, these leaks really can’t contain themselves! The latest one is perhaps a bit more important than a white Z10 however — the street date for Vodafone UK. An internal document, shown above, claims that BlackBerry 10 will be available for order after 5 PM on launch day, and hit stores on the 31st. We may be able to get our hands on BlackBerry 10 sooner than we think!
The release date will likely apply to some other carriers as well, with one of the prime suspects being Rogers here in Canada. They’ve had pre-orders open for ages, and are usually among the first carriers in the world with BlackBerry devices. Bell and Telus, however, will likely take a little more time. Telus has promised to open pre-orders for ages, but still hasn’t done it, so chances are they’ll take at least another week.
There are some other interesting things to note in this internal document. Firstly, it confirms that BlackBerry 10 will no longer require special BlackBerry plans. Maybe this means the end of BlackBerry Internet Service, or maybe there will still be a BIS option for those who want it. I’m sure more details will be revealed on the 30th, but this at least confirms that you’ll be able to use any standard smartphone plan with BB10.
The other object of interest is the release of the white version of the phone, leaked earlier today. The document claims they will receive these phones mid-February, so if you’re looking to pick up a white Z10 you’ll have to be a little patient.
In any case, this seems to be great news for BlackBerry 10. You can be sure I’ll be picking up my Z10 as soon as I can, and I might even publish a review here. Stay tuned.
